There are lots of reasons for people to think about moving to a place such as
Glendale. For one thing, the weather is great; California winters just can't
be beat anywhere else in the United States and Canada. For another, Glendale has
an economic base which as traditionally allowed the city to remain financially
strong even during the worst financial times.
Finding a home in Glendale is a bit of a process for anyone wishing to move
here, however. There are issues that come with the city that might not be an
important consideration on your own Mississauga condos; let's
take a look at them before we get into the better parts of the purchase of a
Glendale home.
First of all, there is an issue of crime in the Glendale area. As with many
areas of Los Angeles, certain neighborhoods in Glendale are more prone to crime
than others. Gangs and gang related problems in particular were a big concern
for Glendale residents for many years. Although the gangs themselves were not
a problem to suburban communities, they did pose a threat when people came in
to enjoy some of the amenities the city has to offer (again, it's a different
sort of world than you may be used to when it comes to somewhere like Oakville real estate).
Fortunately, the LAPD has recently been cracking down on gangs in a big way.
In fact, over the last ten years the number of gangs in operation in the city
has been cut from thirty to five, with the police taking further decisive action
against the last handful on a continuous basis. The drop in gang numbers has
resulted in a big drop in crime in the Glendale area; it is now on par with
major cities such as Boston or Toronto. Real estate downtown has seen a corresponding
increase in value.
The other big issue in Glendale is pollution, caused both by individual people
and by the companies and businesses which serve those people. A lot of the airborne
pollutants are carried into the city from nearby Los Angeles, which can create
major problems for those with respiratory problems. You will quickly realize
you are far from the relatively clean streets surrounding condos in Brampton!
Despite the drawbacks, there are good reasons to think about buying in Glendale.
For one thing, housing prices have never been better, from a buyer's perspective.
The housing crisis has combined with a weak economy to make these prices appealing
for many buyers from other countries, whose current real estate may be worth
much more than those in Glendale.
Glendale has also recently seen a rejuvenation in many areas, again in large
part thanks to the reduction in crime rates. Condominium developments such as
The Americana at Brand rival cutting edge modern buildings like 110 Bloor, up
north. These developments are practically communities unto themselves, including
residences and shopping opportunities. It's like living in a town within
the city, secluded from any of the negative parts of Glendale.
